Description
"The Fabulous Mallard Duck Water Bird" is a photographic work that immortalizes this aquatic bird relaxing by the lake at houres sunset. The bird in the image is probably a female Mallard Duck (Anas platyrhynchos).
The Mallard Duck is the most widespread surface duck in the world and is found in a multitude of habitats.
Females are brown in color with shades of beige to brown, a coloration that makes them less visible to predators during incubation.
A distinctive feature is the iridescent purple-blue wing mirror, bordered by a white band, also visible in the image.
These birds are omnivorous and feed in shallow water.
Sexual dimorphism is accentuated, with males having a bright dark green head and neck.
